Guidelines for Effective Comments

When submitting your comments, focus on material planning considerations such as:

  • Traffic generation and highway safety
  • Impact on local infrastructure and services
  • Environmental concerns, including effects on wildlife and green spaces
  • Design, appearance, and scale of the proposed development
  • Compliance with local planning policies and the North Somerset Local Plan

Avoid mentioning non-material considerations like loss of property value or personal circumstances, as these are not taken into account in planning decisions.

Template Letters for Specific Development Sites

To assist residents in submitting structured and effective comments, we've prepared template letters for each proposed development site in Wrington. You can download and customise these templates to reflect your views. You may also wish to consider including some of the following key concerns:

  • Destruction of the rural character of the village
  • Increased traffic congestion on approach roads and within the village itself
  • Loss of Green Belt land
  • Three of the proposed sites have already been rejected at appeal or upon submission
  • A survey found that 96% of those working outside Wrington commute by car, increasing pressure on local roads
  • No access to a rail service or a reliable bus network, making sustainable travel impossible
  • Significant increase in truck traffic, with 750 additional movements expected at Butts Batch alone
  • The Butts Batch development will obscure the historic view of the Grade 1 listed church when approaching from Langford
  • The Garstons Orchard site will impact the feeding area of the protected Greater Horseshoe bats
  • Significant loss of prime agricultural land

Every objection strengthens the case against these unsustainable developments. Make your voice heard before it is too late.

Each template includes site-specific considerations and guidance on key points to address.
